The DAGOMO Ageing Games is hosted annually on November 19 & 24, 2023, to honour the late former Chairman and Vice Chairman of DAGOMO Foundation, Surv. Daniel Aiyanyo and Barr. Grace Onaiwu Omoigui who died on November 19, 2016, and November 24, 2022.

It hosts a series of fun games with teams made of both old and young people thus promoting inter-generational bonding, learning, building compassion in the youth for the elderly, and bridging the age gap.

It is a platform to advocate for the direct impact of physical and mental exercise on overall wellbeing – using blood pressure, and heart rate indices as a measure of success before and after the activities.

Accordingly, as in all our programs, we conduct a medical outreach at the same time to collect such data, monitor and track the overall well-being of participants, and glean data that facilitates data-driven interventions.

Objective

Utilize physical and mental exercise as a measurable approach that enables direct impact on overall physical and mental wellbeing.

Some benefits of Exercise:

1. Lowers blood pressure and triglycerides (a type of fat in the blood).
2. Raises HDL (high-density lipoproteins) (“good”) cholesterol levels.
3. Reduces the risk of overweight and obesity, when combined with a reduced-calorie diet.
4. Helps to manage blood sugar and insulin levels, which lowers the risk for type 2 diabetes.
